It's almost 3 years since the people of Savern (Bas-Rhin) adopted Cristal, the little electric shuttle from Alsace. More than 100,000 people have used it since it was introduced, twice as many as expected. The municipality of Rosheim is now testing this silent, non-polluting mode of transport.
After Saverne, Rosheim could become the second town in Alsace to acquire the Cristal electric shuttle designed by the Lohr group. A six-month trial is due to start in the next few weeks before a final purchase is made.
With its Cristal electric shuttle and Draisy ultra-light train project, Alsace-based industrialist Lohr is aiming to meet the mobility needs of tomorrow.
For a six-week trial period, the municipality wants to test vehicles that are highly flexible and ideally sized for narrow streets.
The Lohr group (Duppigheim) is the winner of the Trophée des entreprises d'Alsace in the technological innovation category. The company is responsible for two innovative transport systems, Cristal and Draisy.
Since Monday 5 February, a strange vehicle called the "Rosabus" has been plying the streets of Rosheim. It's the Cristal electric shuttle from the manufacturer Lohr, available free of charge to local residents to take them to the station or around the town. This is a six-month trial to see whether the shuttle is a hit with the public.
