Draisy and Telli, the two light trains designed to revive SNCF’s short lines

The SNCF and industrialists have launched two projects for light, ultra-light battery-powered trains, with the aim of eliminating the old diesel railcars from small regional lines, and even reopening neglected local routes.
At the moment, trains are looking for a future on small rural lines. But the SNCF is refusing to give up on the private car for these ‘fine regional services’, despite the meagre traffic on these routes. The public transporter’s teams are working on two different projects, with two groups of industrial partners, which could see the light of day around 2028-2029. Provided that the regions expressing an interest agree to place sufficient orders.
