Code name: Draisy. Over the next two years, the Alsatian manufacturer Lohr and SNCF will be trialling this small means of transport on the Sarrable-Kalhausen line (Moselle), with the aim of bringing small rural railway lines back into service.
It was the star of the European Mobilty Expo festival, which was exceptionally relocated to Strasbourg last week. Draisy, the latest product from Alsatian manufacturer Lohr, attracted a lot of attention.
‘This train will bring small regional lines back into fashion’, says Julien Rat, Lohr’s Director of Rail Operations. Already dubbed ‘the train of the countryside’, this futuristic new transport system has 80 seats. Designed in conjunction with the SNCF, this train is unique in that it runs on electric batteries.
