The aim of this ambitious project is to revitalise the ‘fine regional service lines’ that are currently little used or even closed, and provide an alternative to the private car in rural areas.
A future small revolution. On Wednesday in Strasbourg, the SNCF and the Alsatian manufacturer Lohr unveiled an electric battery-powered train designed for small rural lines. Still in the planning stage, this single carriage called ‘Draisy’ should be in service from 2028.
